4010-4014 rue Wellington is a 1930 brick commercial building on Verdun's main street, renovated in 2007. It offers about 17,000 square feet over a ground floor of street-front retail, a second floor of flexible space and a full basement. A freight elevator, rooftop air conditioning and parking at the rear make it practical for retailers, services and offices. Helisis has owned it since 2019.
The building sits on the busiest stretch of Rue Wellington, about a minute on foot from De l'Église metro on the green line. In summer this part of the street becomes the Promenade Wellington, a pedestrian street full of terraces and foot traffic. The Auditorium de Verdun and the Verdun beach on the St. Lawrence are about a seven-minute walk.
Part of the building already stood on Wellington Street in the 1920s. Over a century it has housed billiard halls, schools, shops and a bank branch. Upstairs, at number 4012, we created Spacial, a coworking floor designed by Ivy Studio.
Rue Wellington
On the coolest street in the world
In 2022, Time Out named Rue Wellington the coolest street in the world, ahead of streets in Melbourne, Glasgow, Taipei and Copenhagen. It was the first Canadian street ever on the list, chosen from a survey of more than 20,000 city residents and Time Out's local editors, for its cocktail bars, brunch spots, sandwich shops and urban beach.
Every summer since 2020, 1.3 km of the street, from Rue Régina to 6e Avenue, closes to cars and becomes the Promenade Wellington, full of terraces and people. The church of Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs anchors the corner at De l'Église, and the Verdun beach on the St. Lawrence is a short walk down the street.
