3436 rue Aylmer is a four-storey building from about 1930 with 35 studios and one larger apartment, just below the McGill campus. Many studios have been renovated in recent years, and several are offered furnished. A central gas system provides heating and hot water, the roof was replaced in 2018 and the heating plant in 2017. A basement laundry room, storage lockers, a terrazzo staircase and fourth-floor skylights complete the building. Helisis has owned it since 2014.
The location is hard to beat for a student. McGill's Roddick Gates and McGill metro are each about five minutes on foot, and Place-des-Arts, the Quartier des spectacles and downtown shops, cafés and libraries are all within walking distance.
Since we bought it in 2014, the building has had new windows (2016), a new heating plant (2017) and a new roof (2018), and many studios have been renovated, with more under way. There is a storage room in the basement.
